Finding Your Board in Windows Device Manager
- Connect your Proton Pack controller to your computer using USB.
- Right-click the Windows Start button and select Device Manager.
- Find and expand Ports (COM & LPT).
- Look for your USB serial device. It may appear as USB Serial Port, CP210x USB to UART Bridge, or CH340.
- Note the COM number shown next to the device, such as COM3, COM5, or COM7.
- When the RIFT updater asks you to select a serial device, choose the matching COM port.
Tip: If you are unsure which device is your Proton Pack controller, unplug the USB cable and watch which COM port disappears. Reconnect the USB cable and confirm which COM port returns.
Installing firmware intended for different hardware may cause incorrect operation. Confirm your Proton Pack kit and firmware selection before updating.
